In this post, I share why I chose to become a MIG Living ambassador after years of saying no to other network marketing opportunities.

Never in a million years did I think I’d join a multi-level marketing company.
I believed the business model was a pyramid scheme and a scam. I didn’t want to be another person in my friends’ social media feed shilling products.
But then I learned about a new network marketing company whose mission and products I truly believe in, and I decided to give it a chance.
My Background
Before I tell you why I joined MIG Living, I need to share a little bit about me and how I ended up in direct sales.
My Life in the Olympics
When I was growing up, my dream job was to work in sports, either for a National Hockey League (NHL) team or in the Olympic movement.
So when I was in college, I did all the things to make that dream happen. I assisted in the university’s sports information department, worked game nights for our local minor league hockey team, and interned for the U.S. Olympic Committee.
All that hard work paid off because a few months after I graduated college, I landed my dream job as communications coordinator for USA Gymnastics. It was a really exciting time because it was 2007, less than two years out from the Olympic Games in Beijing, China, and I was working for one of the most popular Olympic sports.

But as time went on, I started to question whether this was actually what I wanted to do for the rest of my career. I looked around at the women who I worked with – other sports’ PR people and members of the media – and I realized that many of them weren’t married, and if they were, many didn’t have kids.
Up until that point, I hadn’t given much thought to a family of my own. I knew that I wanted to get married and have kids, but I hadn’t thought about the effect my job would have on my future personal life. I realized that working in sports PR wasn’t the type of job that would allow me to be the mother I wanted to be.
So after going to the Olympics in Beijing, which was a once-in-a-lifetime experience, I took a position with the federal government in Northern Virginia, just outside Washington, D.C. It was a 9-to-5 job that allowed me to have a more normal personal life. I wasn’t super passionate about it, but I liked it.
Becoming a Mom
Then I met my husband, we got married, and I became pregnant with our first child. And once again, I started having the same thoughts about my job, wondering if I could be the mother I wanted to be while working full-time.
So my husband, Ryan, and I decided that after our daughter was born, I would resign from my job and become a stay-at-home mom. My husband had a well-paying job so it wasn’t a stretch for us financially to go down to one income.
But less than a year after my daughter was born, my husband’s relationship with his business partners fell apart and he left his company. We moved to his hometown in Southern California, where he decided to start a business on his own.
Going back to work
That was more than six years ago, and it hasn’t been an easy road since then. I feel like I’ve been living in a constant state of anxiety, and I realized that I need to take charge if I want things to change.
I want to take some of the financial burden off of my husband, but I also want to spend more time with my two kids (ages 7 and 4) than a traditional 9-to-5 job will allow. And with my kids at home in 2020, now moving into 2021, how can I go back to work now?

I’ve also struggled with the fact that I’ve been out of the workforce for more than seven years. I don’t feel like I fit anywhere anymore. I don’t want to get back into public relations, and I don’t want to go back to work for the government. Sometimes I wonder: What am I even good at anymore outside of taking care of my kids?
And while I know that raising my children is the most important job that I’ll ever have, I also need to know that I’m still a strong, capable woman outside of the home.
STARTING MY NETWORK MARKETING BUSINESS
I learned about becoming a MIG Living ambassador one year ago, and I knew this was what I was looking for. I love the products and they fit so well into this healthy lifestyle I’m pursuing.
But more importantly, the founder and the company she’s built share my same values. This is a group of people who are worth my time and effort.
But I was still hesitant. Because I was embarrassed.
Before becoming a stay-at-home mom, I had two jobs that people wanted to talk to me about. These positions were unique and exciting and respected. But network marketing? It doesn’t quite have the same admiration that working for USA Gymnastics or the federal government does.
I was in, but I wasn’t all in.
I’ve spent most of the last year wrestling with this decision and being too concerned with what others will think of me.
I’ve spent most of the last year wondering where the girl I used to be had gone. Where was the girl who went after the internships and job opportunities she wanted? Where was the girl who didn’t choose the easy path but worked hard to get to where she wanted to be? Where was the girl who made decisions based on what felt right to her and not on other people’s opinions?
I want to find her again. I want to find the girl who doesn’t know what it’s like to fail and therefore thinks she can do anything.
While that girl doesn’t exist in the exact same way anymore, I think there’s an even better version of her out there. And I will find her.
If you’re also looking for your version of that girl, why don’t we find them together?
Why MIG Living?
There are a variety of reasons why I think MIG Living is the best network marketing company. Here are my top three.
1. The Products
I don’t care how great a company’s compensation plan is, if the products don’t work, I can’t sell them. I’d hate myself if I did.
But MIG Living’s products actually work. The company’s been in business for 10 years, and they have a 72 percent repeat purchase rate. That’s crazy high! And they’re so confident in their products that they offer a 60-day money-back guarantee.

I’ve also looked at other “clean” skincare MLMs in the past, and I just didn’t feel like they were as natural and non toxic as they claimed to be. (Greenwashing, anyone?) But MIG Living only uses ingredients that meet strict standards for purity and quality. They don’t compromise or cut corners when it comes to what they put in their products, so you can be sure what you’re using is safe and non toxic.
Because non toxic living has been a passion of mine for several years, it was important to me to join a company that promotes the same lifestyle.
2. The Ground floor opportunity
MIG Living is a new network marketing company, which means that people have the opportunity to join before it becomes a household name. This DOES NOT mean that you won’t have success if you join later; it just means that there are fewer people selling the products and recruiting now.
I think about how lucky the people are who joined Rodan + Fields or Beachbody at the beginning. And I feel lucky to have joined MIG Living early on.
Because MIG Living has already been in business for 10 years, I didn’t worry that I’d join as an ambassador and then the company would go out of business. I want this to provide me with lifelong financial freedom, and so I need a company that’s in it for the long haul.
3. The Culture
While this isn’t the first thing I looked at when choosing a network marketing company, the culture is probably the most important criteria and the one that sealed the deal for me.
Jaime Cross, the founder of MIG Living, is a Christian whose faith is the foundation of her business. This means that she runs her company with love and respect for her customers, employees, and independent ambassadors. We are serving people, not selling to them.
You’ve probably heard the horror stories about MLMs: the catty team members, and the upline pressuring people to sell more and more. I’ve officially been an ambassador for eight months now, and I’ve never felt any of this. I haven’t spent as much time as I’d like on the business until now, and nobody has ever pressured me to do more.

I’ve heard the company’s leaders say that people join MIG Living for various reasons and everyone is welcome. There is support for ambassadors no matter what their goals are: from simply being part of a community to covering the grocery bill each month to earning a full-time income.
Jaime Cross wants to pioneer change within the network marketing industry so that people aren’t having the bad experiences that are rampant in other companies.
Become a MIG Living Ambassador
So you’ve heard why I joined, but now I want to tell you how to join.
What does it cost to start?
Starting your MIG Living business is inexpensive compared to the cost of starting most other businesses. Shoot, it’s cheaper than what I spent starting this blog!
Can you join a network marketing company for less? Yes. Can you start and run a blog for less? Yes.
But chances are you’re going to get what you pay for.
Just having access to the company training and coaching is incredibly valuable. My husband spent about $30,000 for 1.5 years of a business coaching program. That number doesn’t include all the other courses he’s purchased, too.
Let’s look at the costs of running a MIG Living business vs. my blog:
MIG Living | My Blog |
---|---|
Enrollment fee: $99 (one-time fee) | Blog theme and framework: $129.95 (one-time purchase) |
Administrative fee: $20/month | Blog hosting: $30/month |
Training/coaching: Included | Training: $268* (one-time purchases) |
Launch pack: Optional | Email service: $19/month |
Pinterest scheduler: $14.99/month | |
Graphic design tool: $12.95/month | |
Keyword research tool: $99** | |
Photo preset filters: $28.20 (one-time purchase) |
*This is for four recent courses/ebooks I purchased. This figure doesn’t include the tens of thousands of dollars my husband spent on courses and coaching programs that I had access to.
**Keyword research tool is $99/month. But I paid for one month and am doing a bunch of keyword research in one month before cancelling. I’ll probably buy a month a few times each year.
Income disclosure
I’m not going to sugar coat this point: There’s no guarantee that you’ll succeed (whatever your definition of that is).
And if you do succeed, it’s going to take hard work and probably longer than you think it will.
So if you’re looking for a get-rich-quick scheme, this isn’t it.
Do some people earn money quickly? Sure! Will you? I have no idea.
Is this still a great opportunity?
Yes.
And if you don’t like it, you don’t have to continue. You still get to take with you the knowledge and experience you gained and apply it to the next thing you do.
If this past year of indecision has taught me anything, it’s that I would rather give something a shot than wonder, “What if?”
